Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.” The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born. ”

VLC Video Editor In Action [Video]

VLC is probably the best lightweight, cross-platform media player out there and just on the heels of the sad news that they may very well stop development for OS X we get something new to get excited about.  Just yesterday the VideoLAN Project announced that it is working on its brand new cross-platform video editor.  There are many open source video editors floating around but none with usability, stability or regular development of their professional counterparts.  While VLMC is still a long way from being able to cut a feature film, it does look like it is miles ahead of other open source options and if given time we may see a real open option in the post production world.
